The short version: Animo uses your camera and microphone because that is the game. Gameplay, speech recognition and your recorded clips are processed and stored on your device. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and nothing you record leaves your phone unless you share it yourself.

1. Who we are

Animo is a voice-controlled camera game made by Animo Tech Private Limited ("Animo", "we", "us"). This policy covers the Animo mobile app on iOS and Android and the website getanimo.io. For anything privacy-related, contact us at developer@getanimo.io.

2. What the app accesses, and why

Camera. Your camera feed is the backdrop of every run and is composited into the clip the game records. The feed is processed on the device and is never uploaded by us.
Microphone. Your voice is the controller. Audio is analysed on the device for speech matching and loudness, and is recorded into your clip.
Speech recognition. The app uses your device's built-in speech recognition (Apple or Google, depending on platform). Where the device supports on-device recognition for your language, recognition happens entirely on the phone. For some languages the operating system may process speech through the platform provider's servers, subject to that provider's privacy terms. We never receive your transcripts.
Photo library (optional, add-only). Used only when you choose to save a clip to your photos. We cannot read your existing photos.

3. Your clips

Every run records itself into a video clip. Clips are stored locally on your device, inside the app's own storage. They are not uploaded to us, not analysed by us, and not shared with anyone unless you tap share yourself. Deleting a clip in the app deletes it from your device permanently. Uninstalling the app deletes all clips stored in it.

4. Account

You can use an Animo account to keep your unlocks and progress across devices. Sign-in works with Sign in with Apple on iOS and phone number verification on Android. If you create an account, we store the information needed to run it: your Apple sign-in identifier (and your email address if you choose to share it with us through Apple) or your phone number, a display name if you set one, and your game progress and unlock status. We use this only to operate your account. Your clips and your voice are never part of your account data and stay on your device.

You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time from inside the app or by emailing developer@getanimo.io. We delete it within 30 days.

5. Purchases

Premium content is unlocked with a single one-time purchase processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by the store. We never see your card number or billing details; we only receive confirmation that the purchase happened so we can unlock your content.

6. Content downloads and server logs

The app periodically downloads game content (word packs and levels) from our servers. Like almost every internet service, our servers keep standard technical logs of these requests: IP address, timestamp and the file requested. We use these logs only to run and secure the service, and they are deleted on a rolling basis.

7. Analytics

We do not embed any third-party analytics or tracking SDK in the app. We rely on the analytics the platforms themselves provide to every developer: Apple App Analytics for iOS (aggregated and only from users who have opted in to sharing analytics with developers in their device settings) and Google Play's native statistics and Android vitals for Android. These reach us as aggregated, anonymised numbers such as installs, sessions and crash counts, and contain no personal data. They are governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy terms.

8. What we do not do

No ads and no advertising SDKs.
No sale or rental of personal data, to anyone, ever.
No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs inside the app.
No reading of your contacts, location, files or existing photos.

9. Children

Animo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security and retention

Account data is stored with reputable cloud infrastructure providers and protected in transit with encryption. We keep personal data only as long as your account exists, plus the short period needed to process deletion.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the EU GDPR and the California CCPA. Because we hold so little about you, the fastest route for any of these is simply emailing developer@getanimo.io. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
